Do you know that? In Korea, four children a day are diagnosed with pediatric cancer, including leukemia, and at this moment, more than 10,000 children are being treated for pediatric cancer.

Pediatric cancer is a malignant tumor in children. Blood cancer and solid tumors accounted for a high rate of pediatric cancer in incidence. Blood cancer is a condition in which blood cells in the body develop cancer and multiply, and this includes leukemia, which accounts for 35 to 40 percent of childhood cancer. A solid tumor is a disease in which some of the cells in the body cause malignant changes and form lumps in the body. A solid tumor is a disease in which some of the cells in the body cause malignant changes and form lumps in the body. Solid tumors can be divided according to the location or the shape and characteristics of the tissue. The solid tumors commonly found in children include brain tumors, neuroblastoma, Wilms’ tumor, retinoblastoma, hepatoblastoma, osteosarcoma, and soft tissue sarcoma. Brain tumors account for about 20 percent of pediatric cancer, following leukemia. They are struggling with different forms of childhood cancer in incidence.

Pediatric cancer is often thought to be incurable. That is false, pediatric cancer is a treatable disease, not an incurable disease. Early detection of pediatric cancer is more resilient than adult cancer, so there is a 70 percent chance of complete recovery. Besides, it was difficult to treat pediatric cancer in the past, but recently, with proper treatment, it can be cured by more than 80 percent, and the rate of complete childhood cancer is increasing. That is good news.
Eighty percent of children who have recovered completely with pediatric cancer can get back into society, in fact, however, the process of getting back into society is never smooth. Children with pediatric cancer have to receive painful treatment at the hospital for about two years that is not enough to go out and play and capture all the precious things in their eyes. During treatment, the child feels helpless at a time repeating the improvement and deterioration. Families who stand by their children are also under tremendous mental stress due to the situation their children suffer from cancer and the burden of the medical expense.

You have probably seen a skinny child with a hat and a mask. Maybe the child is a pediatric cancer patient. Children who fight against childhood cancer leukemia have little immunity because of chemotherapy, which is also difficult for adults. Even a mild cold is a matter of life and death for them. These days, people are trying to protect their immune system by purchasing masks and frequently using hand sanitizers due to the COVID- 19. The COVID-19 also has become a serious problem for pediatric cancer patients and their families. Due to a lack of mask inventory and delays in-hospital treatment, pediatric cancer patients and their families spend all days in anxiety.

We just didn't want to be sad to see them in this situation. We wanted to be a little help to them. I thought about what we can do as students. We had the advantage of being able to approach students like us more actively. ‘Yes, this is it! Let's start with the design of the product, the planning, the production, and the final delivery of the product by ourselves!’ We decided to use social networks to promote this to all students in Korea beyond friends' friends. Here is where the project started. We want not only the students but also the people who are reading this to participate in this campaign.

We would like to donate all the money except for the production and delivery costs.

We will donate all the money except for the amount spent on production/delivery for the Hope Project to the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation (https://www.kclf.org/). Our goal is to deliver more than 500.000 won as a donation. The activity to raise money is only done in this Tumblbug site and the schools. The donation process will also be transparent to the sponsors through social network services such as Youtube or Instagram. I hope this amount will be used in a good place with our warm hearts.
